Tivo remote not working with new batteries.
I tried going through the steps of pairing it with the tv but it does not work. The red light comes on, I type the code in, red light blinks and goes off, and when you try pressing the power button, the remote beeps red then yellow. The remote will also sometimes change channels on another tv in another bedroom.

Clearly not a remote issue. Nothing has changed in my settings, no new hardware introduced, everything had been working fine for 6 months. After a reboot the remote works again for a moment but after a few button presses all I receive is the yellow acknowledge light on the tivo, but no acceptance of the commands (from either remote). The past 6 months if I pushed "pause" once it would "pause" and if I pushed it again it would play. If I push the Play button above it, it still keeps it on pause. My only solution is to hit the "back" button so it take it back 6 seconds and then it will go into Play mode. Is this a "new" firmware issue, a remote issue, or something else.
