AutoCAD is mostly used for 2D drafting and there is plenty of demand for that. There is several decades of history wrapped up in AutoCAD, its not going anywhere. Revit is for modelling buildings in great detail and with lots of process and data attached. It dominates the construction CAD market and rightly so. I find groups in archicad are terrbile compared to revit groups. the idea that i have to hotlink are more like external references is a time killer. I also find using dimensioning to be better in Revit. archicads ability to draw and snap to things in 3D is amazing. Revit families are better than archicads library parts. As mentioned before, single-core performance is the most important metric when choosing a CPU for Revit only. For the drafties, the Intel i7-10700k or the AMD Ryzen 7 3700x would be great options. Autodesk don’t know what they are talking about. There is 0% chance that a problem with the gfx card would corrupt Revit data in any way whatsoever. Revit barely touches the gfx system, even during rendering. Watch a decent (ie, Process Explorer) trace of Revit - it barely touches the gfx card and even then only for some shoddy AA on line work.

I upgraded to an i9-10850K 10c20t processor (1.29V and 4.8GHz OC) and am still using an NXZT Kraken x62 AIO Liquid Cooler. CPU being an i9 runs hot naturally but even when I run any game, benchmark, or CPU stress test, CPU temps never reach within 10 or 15 degrees C of the CPU's thermal max like it does when I open the Material Library in Revit.

And I’ve always had to modify/clean up/dumb down other people’s families, it’s easier to just diy. You need really top notch families, in full libraries, to sell them well. The other option is building families for manufacturers.
