If it spotted you, you'll always hear it near. If it didn't spot you it may pass/hover over you, but if it doesn't stay it didn't see you. Last time I successfully hid there would be periods where I couldn't hear it at all about every hour or so. If you hear the helicopter and you have ANY line of sight to outside, it's seen you. How often does the heli show up when on sometimes? Does it come more than once in a month?
