When the knives get dull it sucks the horsepower so either keep the knives retracted or keep them sharp.A JD 435 was my first round baler. It was easy to use. The monitor was a bit crude but it told you what you needed to know (it is not like you are splitting atoms ). I was/am not a high volume hay operator. The bales would fit easily in the back of a full sized pickup. No service issues.I have the 530 baler. After about the first dozen or so bales I rolled it started that same thing, A mechanic spent about 1 1/2 hours with it & couldn't figure it out.
