Vp race gas will be fine. The number one thing to do to any engine is to use good oil, get a better exhaust and intake. You can also do things like shave the head to increase compression but you'd have to take it apart. If I may make a suggestion, if you want to go faster, just use the 212cc.

Its an old hangup. 196s used to be harder to mod, and the smaller 5/8 only shaft size was a hindrance (though you can still end up with a 5/8, theyre mostly 3/4 now, and adapters are easier to get). Plus the 212 sounds bigger if you're new to the game.

It's a small frame but the 212 works perfect. I left it stock with the governor intact. It will hit about 30 mph with a 200lb man on it. It does have a lot of torque though. And you have to be careful of wheelies.
