The only thing I've done to the 795 is to throw a set of Tech Sights on it, polish the bolt, and fiberglass bedded a steel rod in the forearm and weighted the buttstock a bit.The sole purpose of the 450 Marlin was to give 1895 shooters what they deserved out of the 45-70 Govt. Not a big deal if you reload the 45-70 but a huge performance improvement in store shelf ammo. The 60 has a longer barrel, a tube feed magazine, is more accurate beyond about 50 yds, and is a bit heavier. I think 60s can still be had with wooden stocks. Nice review. As you mentioned, the RS22 is very similar to the 702. IMO the main differences are: 1) the RS22 has a better stock, 2) a larger bolt handle, and 3) comes with sling studs. I used to have some Marlin 60's and 795's but sold them after buying the 702.

My first 795 was bought in the spring of 2011. Price was $129.95 locally and Marlin had a $25 factory rebate, so $105 plus tax. It was made in the Marlin factory. The second one I bought in the fall of 2011 because the price dropped to $119.95 and still had a $25 rebate. That one was just over $100 with the tax.

Most of them don't know that there are well over 3 million 795's out there.
