when the bike doesn't start in neutral (diode open circuit) or if the neutral light comes on when you pull in the clutch (diode short circuit) it's a sign the diode is shot. 2003 1600 Vulcan Classic won't start when hot. My bike usually starts right up when cold but not always. I can ride a short ride and when I turn it off it won't restart. Engine turns over fine but won't hit and sometimes if I hold throttle wide open it will hit a few times and sometimes start. If I keep turning it over it get the flooded smell.The guy who serviced it recommended turning the throttle twice to activate the pumper jet. Then press start and twist the throttle. The bike will ignite, and it's really loud, but it dies after a few seconds. I have tried pulling the clutch in, and pulling the choke out. Neither of those will get it to turn over.
