It's a scam. If it costs money and advertises "prestige", then it's probably a scam/doesn't help with acceptance. It won't give you a scholarship just for joining, but they offer scholarship opportunities. In addition, they offer meet-ups across the country so you could connect with other NSHSS members.

They send out tens of thousands of invites, or more, to college students around the country based on a (fairly mediocre) GPA threshold to collect dues. Phi Kappa Phi (and maybe certain major-specific ones, but that depends entirely on the major/industry) is the only honor society that means anything.<p>Does anyone know what the National Society of Collegeiate Scholars is? The primary purpose of these organizations is to line the pockets of those who created/work for them, and they do this by taking advantage of the naivete of young students.
