Yes its pretty hard to endgame gaige without anarchy because she has little DPS without it. But its actually pretty well balanced for most set ups. Just don't sham fleet. Maya is great fun but not for elemental damage, for crowd control, and AOE damge. Gaige is better for elemental damage than maya, as well is krieg.Deathtrap is perfect when you need backup (plus his kills get you a Second Wind), and Anarchy allows you to blow through enemies in longer sessions. The Hellfire, Volcano, and a corrosive Lyuda are really awesome with the right skills and class mods/relics.
