I recently bought my first 1911 (Ultra Carry II), and was a little clumsy the first few times cleaning it. While it does take a little longer than my Glock, I can now field strip in about a minute and detail strip in about 5-10 minutes. You might ask if there is another salesperson that is more familiar with the gun.

Plan to try the Wiregear (Wheeler Engineering Chinese clone) sight pusher next. remanaz. To remove the thumb safety from the gun either use your thumb/fingers to pull the hammer back to the cocked position or rack the slide for the same result. Then push the thumb safety up to roughly the middle of between engaged and off. Once in the middle position wiggle it while pulling it away from the frame.The slide stop is definitely not seated in all the way. Press the slide release. Line up the slide stop with the smaller notch on the slide, that's the point which you'll be able to push it in and then bam. Take your slide stop out again. Line up the barrel lug and the slide holes, make sure to physically see it.It's not recommended to field strip a Kimber 1911 if it's jammed; instead, clear the jam following standard safety procedures. 10.
