I have a '05 2500HD with the Duramax Diesel /Allison trans. and bought it with the stock air box and with it had very slow throttle reponse. I added on a Bully Dog Air Intake and did very little if anything to quicken it. It is most noticeable from a dead stop and hitting the throttle. I went out to drive it and at first I had to put my foot all the way to the floor just to get to 1800 rpm. It seemed to get better as I kept driving (would go over 1800 rpm) but it still seemed rather sluggish. Regen issues, thumping sound from the motor, and a few other smaller things. The fuel pumps don't appear to be an issue on the L5P motors. As you know the Duramax does not have a lift pump to push the fuel from the fuel tank to the engine, it uses the injection pump [CP3], to draw/suck the fuel from the fuel tank through all the fuel lines, filter, FICM and then into the CP3.
