So, block with LB, follow quickly with RT. Timing isn't important for the block. Guard counter is good, but it works much better with greatshields. You can likely only block 1-2 hits with a decent stability medium shield against a lot of bosses. With greatshields you can often block entire combos. Greatshields in general are often ridiculously powerful against bosses but are often overlooked. Elden Ring introduced guard countering to the franchise, and I've been having a blast with it. I could never quite master parrying in dark souls, so here was an easier version for me to use.
