Immediately drop the corpse, and take a couple steps back at that point.
Not a lot of creatures are able to kill it. "Rexes are stronger than usual dinos," probably because it's not a usual dino. yes rex are strong but by far not as strong as some apex ones like giga and carcha. if you play on the island maybe its worth knowing that max 2 of them can be on the map.
