I have reloaded 7/8 and 9/8 loads and they work fine with same components and powders, but I favor the 1 oz, 8’s, 7-1/2 or duplex loads, 50/50 mix. I have also found E3 and Promo excellent powders when I could not get my favorite Hodgdon powders.

Baltimore Ed. My current 12 ga load is 3/4 oz of #9 shot in a Clay Buster hot pink wad with a #408 powder bushing worth of Clay Dot. In w-w AA shells. I upped the amount of powder last year from the #398 bushing to help my Winchester M12 trench gun. It felt like I needed a little more juice. A very comfortable load.There are powders that will do 7/8 and use a grain or two less than Clays, but Clays sure will work, and you have it. You can never go wrong with W209 and STS. One powder you might consider is Titewad but it is pretty dense which mean you might get dished crimps on an STS. The load will fit better in an AAHS.
