Wiping the bottle necks allows the bottles to seal properly thereby extending the life of your polish. I've never had any problem using acetone to clean the neck of a polish bottle. If you are cutting or filing your proximal nail fold, this could be what’s causing the problem. Because this is living skin, clipping it will cause it to callus and grow back hard and cracked (this is because the skin is basically trying to defend itself). I used to constantly clip mine and struggled with dry and cracked proximal nail fold.
