After playing some time in Project Zomboid, I know you can use rotten food that are either naturally spawned that were originally fresh foods that gone bad or harvested crops and gotten bad. I don't understand why can't we use the rotten crops and put them into the composter. The composting time is set by default to two weeks. After that, you'll see that composter says something like "X% full". Then, you need to have a sack and fill it with compost. You need to wait, the rotten food takes time to "dissapear", then with an empty sack you could gather the fertilizer. I Think you need worms.
