Most of the work this tractor does is loader work mainly with putting out bales in the winter and clearing cut trees in the summer. I also use it to grade and bush hog 3 or 4 times in the summer and maybe push snow once or twice.

Limited machines (I believe) are a purely mechanical pto, slipping and then not slipping seems to me that it could potentially be linkage related. Replace the spring, and check out the rest of the linkage. There should also be some adjustments that can be made related to pto clutch engagement as well.
