I told her to check the steering wheel and to see if there was a slot she could stick the key in by the shift lever that would over ride the lock out.

For the last few days I haven't been able to shift out of park unless I put my key in the hole on top of the steering column and put it in neutral, then re-crank the car and then shift to Reverse or Drive.
